Not just Greek life
Cultural orgs, sports clubs, religious orgs, service, professional and academic societies run on the same thing.
Tango works a little differently depending on which door you come in through, so the answers are split the same way.
What Tango is, who it is for, and how it pays for itself.
Tango plans your nights out so you don't have to. You answer a few quick prompts about your vibe and when you're actually free, and we hand you a plan that's ready to go: real venue, real time, conversation starters included. Dating is the heart of what we do, but the same planning engine works whether you're meeting a match, taking your partner out, or just getting the group together on a Thursday.
Tango was made by Aggies, for Aggies. Right now you need a valid tamu.edu email address to create an account, so everyone you meet on Tango is a verified A&M student.
No, and there's no catch. Tango is free to join, free to get matched, and free to plan group nights. We don't sell your data, we don't sell subscriptions, and there are no ads in the app. We make our money by partnering with local venues and sending people their way, so the better we get at planning nights you actually show up for, the better that works out for us too. You only pay for your own food and drinks at the venue, same as any night out.
Getting matched, and getting sent on an actual first date.
There's no endless feed. Tango gives you a small set of curated matches, you pick your favorite, and we plan the whole first date from there. Fewer options, more actual dates.
Matching runs on a weekly cycle. Your week opens Sunday with a fresh set of curated profiles, you can send up to 3 invites a day, and up to 3 slots get filled by the people who accept. The invite phase closes Thursday night, then you make your Final Pick. If they pick you back, it's a match and we plan the date.
We do. Tango looks at what you both said you're into (food, vibe, budget, noise level) and picks a real College Station spot that fits. You'll see the venue, the time, why you matched, and a few conversation starters before you go.
Open the date and tap “Can't make it to this date?” That cancels the plan so your match isn't left waiting at the venue, and you can message them in the chat too. Just don't leave them hanging.
Date nights for two, planned on the schedule you set together.
Yes. That's Tango for Couples, and it's a first-class part of the app, not an afterthought. Link up with your partner and we plan date nights for the two of you, so nobody has to be the one who always decides where to eat.
You set the pace together: once a month, twice a month, weekly, or a custom number. Tango works within that window instead of nagging you for more.
Suggest a new one. On a proposed date night, tap “Can't make it? Suggest a new time” and send a counter-proposal. Your partner can accept it or come back with another. Nothing is locked in until you both agree.
A full experience, with no dating profile and no matches.
Plenty. Pick “Just here for Friends” and you get the Friends feed, group chats, group nights, venue suggestions built from your own tastes, and Safety Share, with no dating profile, no matches, and no dating features anywhere in the app. It's a full experience, not a stripped-down one.
Plans for your whole friend group instead of just two people. Everyone joins the group, we plan the outing at a real local spot, and the group chat and Safety Share come built in. No dating required from anyone in the group.
No. The two sides stay separate. Your Friends see your handle and what you post to your groups. Being someone's friend on Tango doesn't put your dating profile in front of them.
Public venues, live location sharing, and reports we act on.
Every plan we make is at a public, well-reviewed venue, never a private residence. You can check in when you arrive, share your location with your Friends while you're out, and report anything that feels off. We act on those reports. This applies to every plan, whether it's a first date or a group night.
Live location sharing with one of your friend groups while you're out. Your group is notified when you start, they can see where you are for the duration, and the location data is deleted automatically when the share ends. You don't need to be on a date to use it. It works any night you want people to know where you are.
