Friend Groups
Bring your real-life inner circle into Tango so your crew can be part of your dating life — privately, safely, and completely on your terms.
Your Inner Circle, In One Place
Create a private group with your closest friends using an invite code, or join one someone sends you. Groups have a name, an emoji, and an optional photo. No member limits — bring everyone you trust, and join as many groups as you want.
Creator Controls
Manage membership, remove members, and decide whether others can invite people in. You stay in control.
Invite by Code or Link
Share a private invite code or a direct join link. No one gets in uninvited.
Dedicated Chat
Every group gets its own group chat the moment it's created — ready to use immediately.
No Limits
No cap on group size, and no limit on how many groups you can be in. Bring your whole circle.

A Group Chat That Actually Does Something
This isn't just a text thread. Seven different message types built specifically for the dating context — from sharing a match for group review to broadcasting your live location before a date.
Text & Photos
Send messages, react with emojis, reply to specific messages, and share photos with captions. Long-press any message to react or reply.
Date Night
Heading out? Share your upcoming date with the group — your partner's name, photo, venue, and time. Your group sees a live status card that updates from Upcoming → Active → Completed.
Share a Profile
Drop a match from your feed into the group and ask for opinions. Everyone in the group sees the full profile. Pick a prompt — "Red flag or green flag?", "Hot or not?", "Second date worthy?" — and reactions are visible to the whole group.
Ask for Advice
Run a poll three ways: a custom yes/no question, a venue rating, or pull in an upcoming date and ask "Should I go?" — the group votes, you decide.
Date Recap
After a date, post a full debrief: rate it on a five-emoji scale, add a one-liner, and share whether you'd see them again. Linked to your actual date itinerary when available.
Safety Share
Start a live location share directly from the chat before any date. Your GPS updates every 15 seconds — visible to both you and your group. Tap SOS to instantly alert every group member.
Live Presence
Every message supports emoji reactions and threaded replies. Typing indicators show when someone's composing, and the live online member count appears in the chat header.

Safety Share
Before any date, open the group chat and tap Safety Share. Your live GPS location is broadcast to your group in real time — and visible on your screen too — updating every 15 seconds. Choose how long to share, and cancel whenever you're ready.
Live GPS — Both Ways
Your location is visible to both you and your group on a live map, with a status card in the chat that updates in real time. Choose 1, 2, or 4 hours — or share all night.
In-App SOS Alert
If anything feels off, tap SOS. Every member of your group is instantly notified inside Tango with your name, the time, and your exact current location.
All Clear
When you're safe, cancel the SOS and your group is immediately notified that everything is okay.
Auto-Delete
Your location data is automatically deleted from our servers the moment the share ends or expires. We never store it.

Friends & Direct Messages
Connect with friends directly on Tango — completely separate from your dating matches. Your friend inbox and your matches inbox never mix, at the database level.
Find Friends
Find people using their unique @handle or let Tango match against your contacts. Send a friend request — they accept, you're connected.
Dedicated Inbox
Friend chats live in their own space — separate tab, separate history. They never show up in your dating history or Past Dates, and they never expire.
Full Profile Access
Tap a friend's profile from any group chat to view their full Tango profile, send a direct message, or manage your friendship.
Fully Separated
Friend DMs are separated from dating matches at the database level — your crew never accidentally appears in your dating history.

Your Group, Your Rules
Every group has its own independent notification settings. Toggle each event type on or off, per group — so a quiet study group doesn't blow up your phone the same way your best friends do.
SOS alerts are always on and cannot be disabled — no matter your other notification preferences. Your group will always hear you if something goes wrong.
